AN ultra-luxuious Range Rover that was dubbed a "five-star" car by Jeremy Clarkson is on sale now for under £8,000.

Today, the 4x4 would set you back at least £40,000 but one with less than 90,000 miles on can clock in for less than a quarter of that.

The Range Rover Evoque is described by the brand as a "compact SUV" and sits near the more affordable end of its lineup.

It's smaller than the full-on SE and HSE models but still promises the same smooth power and refined drive in all environments.

Indeed, the Evoque proved its toughness on Top Gear, when Clarkson's co-host James May took it to Las Vegas via the infamous Death Valley desert.

And yet, despite its rugged credentials, the car still provides plush comfort inside.

Indeed the model proved so popular that, in 2012, it was given an overhaul with design input from Spice Girl, fashion designer and wife of England ace David, Victoria Beckham.

Reviewing the model for back in 2011, Grand Tour star Clarkson wrote: "We have a little secret on Top Gear.

"Well, Hammond and I do.

"We know that, no matter what car we review, it’s not as good as a diesel Range Rover.

"I have absolutely no need in my life for an Evoque, but I want one...and you will, too.

"[It's] an easy five-star car."

Back then, a base model four-wheel drive Evoque would cost you £28,705, equivalent to about £41,000 today.

A 2024 model is actually a little cheaper than the original list price, starting at £40,000.

But one listing from has the same model that caught Clarkson's eye for just £7,995.

The ad states: "This 2011 Land Rover Range Rover Evoque is a great choice for those looking for a stylish and powerful car.

"Finished in White, this 5-door vehicle has just one previous owner and boasts a combined fuel consumption of 49.6mpg."

It was originally listed at £12,485 but has since been further reduced.

And with just 88,200 miles on the clock, it could mean high-end luxury on a shoestring budget for years to come.
