APPLE users have slammed the tech giant after a new update crashed their iPhones making them ‘as useful as a brick’.
The iOS10 software, released yesterday, reportedly caused some phones and iPads to freeze and become unusable, forcing users to reboot them.
#ios10 was trending on Twitter after thousands of users vented their frustration after the update turned their phones or tablets into “bricks”.
One customer Freddy Montes posted: “Ok so #iOS10 brick my iPhone I had to use iTunes to restore to 9.3.5 and now I’m updating using iTunes, wish me luck.”
Another iPhone user, named only as Kellie said: “So my iPhone won’t even recover when i try and its staying a brick and i am not sure what to do? #ios10 @applesupport”.
Many shared photos of an error screen instructing them to plug their smartphones into iTunes.
Jaime Rosales tweeted: “DON’T update to #ios10 I REPEAT DO NOT UPDATE, my phone just became a brick @Apple”.
Urbie Delgado posted: “Well... my iPad Pro didn’t take to the #ios10 update very well. It’s a brick.”

Others said they had no problems with the software.
Carlo Borja posted: “I can confirm that updating your phone via iTunes won’t brick it. I’m now running #iOS10”.
In a statement Apple said: “We experienced a brief issue with the software update process, affecting a small number of users during the first hour of availability.
“The problem was quickly resolved and we apologise to those customers.
"Anyone who was affected should connect to iTunes to complete the update or contact AppleCare for help.”
