CRAZED BEAST ATTACK

My XL Bully bit off my thumb & ate it then mauled my husband – he punched it 30 TIMES but it wouldn’t stop

AN XL Bully owner told how the dog bit off her thumb and ate it in a horrific attack before mauling her husband.

Gaynor Kerr, 47, faces surgery after powerful pet Piglet turned on her “out of the blue” at her home in Dundee.

The beast then inflicted 19 bite injuries on hubby George, 63, days later.

Gaynor said: “I was in agony. I watched her eating my thumb then she swallowed it.”

Former pro boxer George told how he punched his pet XL Bully 30 times in a vain bid to stop the beast mauling him - but revealed the fierce blows had zero impact on the out-of-control beast.

The ex-fighter was left with horror arm and muscle wounds when pet dog Piglet savaged him last Friday night.

And the three-year-old terror also targeted a pal of the couple’s in between those attacks - leaving him with serious leg wounds requiring surgery.

Piglet has since been put down.

Last night, George revealed how he thinks he would have been killed if he’d been home alone at the time of the mauling.

He said: “I was just sitting on the couch as normal and Piglet was sitting with me. She then started to headbutt me and nibble my arm, which she had never done before.

“Then within seconds she just snapped and grabbed a hold of me and pulled me to the floor.

“I am a big lad and I must have punched her more than thirty times but it didn’t have an impact on her.

“I used my arms to protect my face and neck but she just kept biting me and ripping chunks out of my arm.

“Thankfully my son came into the room and started hitting her over the head to get her to stop.

“Once we got her subdued she calmed down really quickly but I knew I was in a bad way. There was blood on the floor and on the couch.

“I really thought I was going to die.”

George now faces months of recovery after being left with 19 bite injuries on his right arm and more than a dozen “rip” wounds on his left.

He is also in bandages and a cast as his arm muscles were peeled off to the bone.

George and Gaynor are supporting each other through their ordeal - with both facing further surgery.

Gaynor lost her thumb when the Piglet snapped at her earlier this month - and she then watched in horror as the deranged hound swallowed it.

She said: “We were at home a few weeks ago and had some friends round. Two of them got into an argument and I stood up and I think Piglet must have got a fright and she just snapped at my hand.

“I looked down and realised my thumb had gone. I was in agony and watched her eating it and then I realised she had swallowed it.

“I couldn’t believe it as she was a lovely dog but had got a little bit aggressive in recent weeks.

“We rescued her about a year ago and she was just skin and bone. Over the last year we built her up and never expected this to happen at all.

“When the police arrived with a vet they got all dressed up in protective clothing and they had shields but she was fine with them.”

George was rushed to Ninewells Hospital in the city for treatment and faces surgery to repair the damage to his limbs.

He was released on Monday and is now back home recovering alongside his wife - who is due to have two operations on her hand to repair the damage caused by the dog.

The couple agreed with authorities that their pet needed to be destroyed and she was put to sleep on Monday by a vet.

Despite their trauma, they don’t believe the breed should be banned - a move being pushed by PM Rishi Sunak.

George added: “Not every dog can be lumped in together. They’re not all bad. This shows things can happen out of the blue.”

Neighbours previously told of their shock at the attack in the tough Dundee neighbourhood.

One said: “The dog was out of control. Dangerous dogs like this shouldn’t be on the streets.”

A Police Scotland spokesperson said: “Police received a report of a dog having injured a 63-year-old man at an address in Longtown Place, Dundee on the evening of Friday September 22.

“The man required treatment to a serious arm injury at Ninewells Hospital in Dundee.

“Officers and a vet attended and the animal has been seized.”

Earlier this month Rishi Sunak announced XL Bullies will be banned by the end of the year - though details remain sketchy.

The move came amid a series of attacks by the breed - including on children - and after one man was killed on September 14.

Ian Price, 52, died while reportedly protecting his elderly mum from one of the vicious dogs in Stonall, Staffordshire.

News of the ban - which will be under the Dangerous Dogs Act - has sparked debate, with some agreeing the powerful dogs should be outlawed while others insist it is bad owners to blame and not the animals.

We previously told how a Scots mum backed the ban as she revealed she thought her teenage daughter would never recover after being savaged by a vicious dog.

The attack came just months after dog trainer Adam Watts was killed by an XL Bully in December 2021, just days before Christmas at his kennels in Dundee.

The Scottish Sun understands if XL Bullies are banned, then all current dogs will be given an amnesty and owners will be given strict conditions - similar to previous bans.
