Emergency services raced to the area at around 10.30pm, but he was tragically pronounced dead at the scene.

Police closed the scene down and a large blue barrier was erected along the road and numerous police vehicles were seen parked in front of it.

Amen’s death was originally being treated as “suspicious”, but the force has said that a murder probe has now been launched following a post-mortem examination.

Cops are continuing to probe the alleged incident and say enquiries are ongoing.

A Police Scotland spokesperson said: "Two male youths have been arrested in connection with the death of Amen Teklay in Glasgow.

"Around 10.30pm on Wednesday, 5 March, 2025, officers were called to a report of a person being found seriously injured on Clarendon Street, Glasgow.

"Emergency services attended and Amen, 15, was pronounced dead at the scene.

"A 14-year-old male youth and a 15-year-old male youth have been arrested in connection with the death and enquiries are ongoing."

Detective Superintendent Cheryl Kelly added: “Our thoughts are with Amen’s family and friends at this distressing time.

“We will continue to provide specialist support for them as our investigation continues.

“We are still keen to speak to anyone who was in the area at the time and anyone who has dash cam, private CCTV or doorbell footage around the time of the incident.”

Amen’s family are aware and are being supported by specially trained officers.

Last night his loved ones were too upset to speak at Amen’s home in the city’s Knightswood.

But a family friend of the teen, who was believed to be a pupil at St Thomas Aquinas Secondary in nearby Jordanhill, said: “He was such a kind boy. He was always smiling.”

Amen had been a popular member of youth and film groups through Kingsway Community Connections, in the city’s Scotstounhill.

A spokesman for the community group said: “We are devastated. He was funny, bright and enjoyed playing football.

“He loved pizza nights and taking part in a summer barbecue.

“We are providing support to Amen’s family and our community as they come to terms with the loss of a son, friend and brother.

“KCC would also like to give thanks to the emergency services who tried desperately to save his life.”

Forensics experts were seen combing the scene yesterday as a cop stood guard near a cordon.

Flowers had been left by well-wishers.

Police have reassured worried locals that they will increase patrols in the area as they carry out their investigations.

Detectives have also set up a website that allows members of the public access to a form to send information directly and anonymously to the Major Investigation Team.

Superintendent Christopher Stewart said: “I understand that residents in the area will be very concerned following this incident however I can reassure them we are working very closely with our detective colleagues and there will continue to be a visible policing presence in the area.
