Conor McGregor claims Dustin Poirier has STD as UFC rival battles life-threatening staph infection from hospital bed

CONOR MCGREGOR jokingly claimed rival Dustin Poirier has a sexually transmitted disease after seeing he'd been hospitalised.

The former interim UFC lightweight champion is currently dealing with a staph infection - which has hospitalised him for the last two days.

And after learning of Poirier's hospital stay, McGregor claimed he claimed his rival had been admitted as he's dealing with an STD.

He tweeted: "Poirier has gonnorhea (sic) spread it around. Ahahhaahahah he's a goner."

Prior to his crude jibe, McGregor tweeted: "Heal up scruffy knickers."

Poirier didn't let the tweet go unanswered, asking his rival: "Ready to get slapped around again?"

McGregor responded: "Ye I’m in Amsterdam jacked like van damn.

"You weren’t just hurt pal. You were scared hurt don’t forget it.

"I’m coming back to put you in a box. Full of it. I’m sending you off this earth. Permanent."

McGregor and Poirier, 34 and 33 respectively, renewed their rivalry in 2021 with a pair of blockbuster fights.

Poirier came out victorious in both outings, knocking out the former two-division champion in the second round of their Abu Dhabi dust-up last January.

And he scored a first-round TKO victory over The Notorious in their Sin City series decider last July.

The bout was ruled a technical knockout win for Poirier as McGregor suffered a horrific broken leg break in the closing moments of the stanza.

Poirier has fought twice since his back-to-back wins over the UFC poster boy, suffering a submission defeat to former lightweight champ Charles Oliveira last December.

But he returned to the win column last month with a third-round submission victory over Michael Chandler at UFC 281.

McGregor, meanwhile, hasn't fought since breaking his leg but is planning to return to the cage early next year.

He recently said: "I'm going to be back soon, hopefully.

"Early 2023 I'm aiming for. Sometime in that first quarter.
