MANCHESTER CITY have beaten cross-town rivals United to the signing of Colombia starlet Marlos Moreno, according to his international boss.

The 19-year-old has seven senior caps for his country and was earmarked for a starring role in their Rio 2016 Olympics squad but has apparently been blocked from the games by the Premier League side.

Colombia coach Carlos Restrepo claims the transfer had been completed and has accused Pep Guardiola of putting the kibosh on his plan to take the teenager to Brazil.

Restrepo revealed his squad on Thursday and revealed Moreno, as well as Jiangsu Suning star Roger Martinez, have been banned from competing.

The unhappy coach said: “In the case of Roger only yesterday they confirmed the player couldn’t come.

“Also, Manchester City will not let Marlos join either.”

The winger won the 2015 Primera A title scoring the only goal in the second game of the two-legged final his side eventually won on penalties against Junior.

They also reached the final of the Copa Libertadores for the first time since 1995 where they were pipped to the title by Brazilian side Gremio.
