DYSON has achieved many impressive feats in its 32 year history but making vacuuming fun is not one I ever expected to say.
The British technology giant's latest nifty idea practically turns cleaning into child's play - while crucially improving how you suck up dirt.
And it's all thanks to a clever app feature that's launching on iPhone in June.
At a recent visit to the company's secret UK HQ in Malmesbury, north Wiltshire, I managed to get hands on with the new gadget ahead of release.
Dyson CleanTrace comes with a phone clamp that attaches to the top of the existing Dyson Gen5detect vacuum cleaner.
You can't add it to any old product or other Dysons (at least not yet) as you'll need to register your Gen5detect for it to work within the existing MyDyson app.

Once you're all set-up, just glide as you would normally but keep an eye on your phone's screen.
It'll show you your room in real-time with a purple shaded colour appearing on the ground over the bits you've successfully vacuumed.
Dyson CleanTrace: What you need to know

Dyson CleanTrace is released globally in June.
We don't know how much it'll cost just yet but other vacuum cleaner accessories are available for about £75 at the moment.
The important bit to remember is that you need a Dyson Gen5detect vacuum cleaner - it won't work with anything else.
This was only a small taster of the technology in action but it seemed to work pretty well.
Even when I turned away from a spot I'd vacuumed, the app remembered it when I came back to it.

And the feature works pretty smoothly too, detecting objects like sofas without ruining the augmented reality graphics.
Myself and other reporters remarked that this could be a real game-changer for encouraging kids to get in on the cleaning as well.
I could really envisage Dyson taking it up a level in future, adding games to it where you suck up virtual objects around the room.
However, price is always going to be a sticking point when it comes to Dyson.
These premium vacuum cleaners are not cheap and neither are the accessories, so it could be a rather expensive way to get kids involved more.
