Jet2 scraps two new flights to European beach city just six months after launching

JET2 has been forced to cancel flights from two major UK airports - just six months after announcing them.
The tour operator announced the new flights to Salerno from both Manchester and Birmingham last year.
Due to start this summer, the route has since been scrapped with local media confirming that the cancellation was due to a "lack of bookings".
A Jet2 spokesperson told Sun Travel that they were "continually reviewing the flying programme [...] in response to demand".
They added: “Following this latest review, we have taken the decision to withdraw services to Salerno Airport from Birmingham and Manchester Airports.
"Where customers are affected, we will contact them to let them know their options which include travelling via Naples Airport, rebooking, or receiving a full refund."

Along with the new flights, Jet2holidays launched package holidays as well.
Packages included hotels across the Italian coast including Amalfi, Positano, Ravello and Vietri sul Mare.
Aviation expert Anton Radchenko, who is also founder of said that the strong expansion of Jet2 has seen a boom in flights from other UK airports such as Bournemouth and London Luton.
He advised: "My top advice to passengers is to book early whenever a new route is announced, or the airlines will scrap it later citing low interest.

"Remember that demand dictates airlines’ decisions, so you need to be proactive."
Jet2 is also increasing flight routes to Naples for Brits still planning on visiting Italy.
The airline operates the route from seven UK airports, including Birmingham and Manchester.
However, while Naples is a much larger and more established airport, it is much further away.
Mr Radchenko added: "The Amalfi Coast, one of the most popular European beach destinations, is closer to Salerno than Naples.
"With a difference of nearly 60km, passengers will take an hour extra, while paying higher on-ground costs."
The new Salerno Airport that Jet2 was due to fly into only opened last year, after closing back in 2016.
The £400million airport allows easier access to the Amalfi Coast, with it expected to be fully operational by next year.
Other airlines such as easyJet have since launched flights there, with a twice-weekly service from London Gatwick.
