TIPPING Point viewers were left open-mouthed after a contestant bore "striking similarities" to a rather famous TV star.

Tuesday afternoon's episode of the ITV quiz show saw Matthew, Leigh and Tim take on the extraordinary machine in the hope of winning a cash jackpot.

As the trio introduced themselves to host Ben Shephard, viewers soon turned their attention to one contestant in particular.

Starting off on the back foot, Tim headed into the first break in last place, with his counters letting him down.

But instead of commenting on his lacklustre performance in the first round, viewers were soon left comparing him to a familiar face.

Sporting a cleanly shaven head, Tim was likened to Karl Pilkington, best known for An Idiot Abroad and The Moaning of Life.

Taking to Twitter, one person penned: "Is it just me or does Tim look like Karl Pilkington? Spitting image in my eyes."

Echoing their comments, someone else said: "Tim and Karl Pilkington have striking similarities. They both look as miserable as each other, too!"

While a third: "Tim really looks like Karl Pilkington, doesn't he?"

Karl rose to fame as Ricky Gervais' hilarious right-hand man.

In 2007, Karl made a cameo appearance in Gervais' show Extras as an autograph hunter.

Then, in 2010, he presented the Sky comedy travel series An Idiot Abroad for two years - this was accompanied by a series of books.

Most notably, he presented The Moaning Of Life from 2013 until 2015 which saw him travel to different countries and experience diverse cultures.

Tipping Point airs weekdays from 4pm on ITV.
