CAROL Vorderman has revealed the surprising secret to her incredible body - and insists she NEVER counts calories.

TV star Carol, 63, credits a "good bra and sprouts" for her impressive figure - and admitted she often carried the vegetables in her handbag to snack on throughout the day.

The Countdown legend told : "I wear a good bra and jeans that hold you up.

"I generally have one meal a day - late afternoon."

However, Carol also confessed feeling "not happy" with herself, having missed months of gym sessions due to a knee injury and being busy working on her new book, What Now? On A Mission To Fix Broken Britain.

Despite this, when it comes to others' opinions about her appearance, she confidently stated, "I don't give a toss about what people say about how I look.

"I'm also old enough to not care about what anyone else thinks about me."

Intermittent fasting involves extending the time between the last meal of one day and the first of the next.

Research suggests it can help with weight management and lead to an overall improvement in health.

The Welsh-born star regularly shares videos of herself working up a sweat in the gym, including core exercises such as planks and squats.

But she said as she’s got older, weight training has been a total game changer and she’s learnt the ropes with the help of a personal trainer.

“I started with a new trainer, a rugby captain in  and we have a good laugh.

“He’s pushing me harder now with weights.

“It’s the weights you need as you get older because I’m quite happy with my body weight.” 

As for her famous rear?

After much speculation, Carol previously stated: “I promise I haven’t had bottom implants.

“It’s the same old bottom. 

“In my family, loads of us have it: the Vorderman A**e.

“My daughter Katie has it.

“My nephew has it.

“We’re all sticky-out-bottom people.”

Carol has previously confessed she has no idea what she weighs, as she threw out her scales in 1999 and has never looked back.

But that doesn’t mean she doesn’t like to maintain her body, which includes a healthy eating regime and twice yearly detoxes to boost her health.

In her 2001 book, Detox your Life, she said: “The detox is not about counting calories or fat units, it's about being aware of the kinds of foods we put into our bodies.

“It's about eating more, not less”.

In other books of hers, she’s said favourites include tuna Nicoise salad, or a leafy green salad for lunch, while she’s been known to whip up seafood and vegetable dishes for dinner. 

Carol's also a huge fan of juicing and attends Jason Vale’s famous Juice Master Retreats in .

While there, guests are given nutritious juices, smoothies or soups to enjoy, as well as an array of activities like yoga and meditation. 

In 2022, Carol explained why she loved the retreat so much, as she unveiled the results of an 18-day retreat, where she drank juice for 15 days and ate out the other three.

Branding it a “special” place, she wrote: “I’ve dropped over a dress size and am bursting with energy.

“Haven’t been into these shorts for a few years, and now they’re loose. Boommmm.”

However, she also won’t deprive herself, as she previously explained that after intermittent fasting she likes nothing more than a hearty fry-up.

In a past social media post, Carol said: “So I'm doing this intermittent fasting thing.

“I've gone 20 hours without food, not felt a little bit hungry.

“And I'm now having proper bacon - not the rubbish kind - and fresh, local eggs, everything local and I can't wait.”
